LYNDA

To escape my own reality I decided to become my alter ego, Lynda. I gave her life through selling parts of Lydia in return of a trait from the buyer. This enabled me to build up an emotional and physical portfolio for her. Over the 4 week period I (as Lydia) slowly faded and merged into Lynda.

A person is made up of so many complicated parts, so I simplified Lydia down into 15 equal parts (equation and diagram below as you may get lost) e.g passwords, bedroom, legacy... Then Lynda had a menu of what she deemed she needed to exist (e.g hand writing, a walk, speech) as she couldn’t just make up herself up out of thin air,  so she took parts of others to make up her seperate identity . This is where the ‘buyers’ fit in. A buyer would purchase 1/15 of Lydia and provide their own information in accordance with one thing Lynda wanted.
For example the first thing few things to go from Lydia were in exchange for hair and eyesight (the initial disguise). Lynda's hair style came from Megan Walker, age 21, from Bath in switch for Lydia's  passwords. Then Lynda's poor eyesight is due to Ellie Potts, age 20, Devon, -2, -2 which was traded for Memories.

An auction was held to bid off the rest of Lydia. By the end Lynda had the foundations of her life, not dependant on Lydia any more.

This film documents the transformation of how Lydia became Lynda.
